[영어 회화] 버스, 지하철 관련 표현 영어로 말하기

 

아침 8시부터는 출근길, 저녁 6시부터는 퇴근길로 도로가 차로 꽉 차있죠. 그 시간쯤에는 출퇴근하는 사람들로 인도도 북적북적, 버스정류장이나 지하철역도 북적북적 합니다. 자가용이 없는 사람들은 버스, 지하철 같은 대중교통의 이용빈도가 높을텐데요. '버스 도착시간을 확인하다, 버스를 놓치다, 지하철 막차다' 와 같이 우리가 자주 사용하는 말들은 영어로 어떻게 말할 수 있을까요? 버스와 지하철을 타러가는 것부터 목적지에 내리는 것까지 전 과정에 대한 유용한 영어 표현들을 정리해보았습니다. 

 

버스, 지하철 탑승 전

1. move to the bust / subway station 버스정류장, 지하철역으로 이동하다

  • I need to catch the next bus, so I'll quickly move to the bus station across the street.
  • Let's move to the subway station; the train is about to arrive.

2. recharge a transit card 교통카드를 충전하다

  • Before our trip, I should recharge my transit card to ensure it has enough balance.
  • It's convenient to recharge your transit card online, saving time at the station.

3. post-paid transit card 후불 교통카드

  • With a post-paid transit card, you don't need to worry about running out of credit during your journey.
  • I prefer using a post-paid transit card; it's more flexible for frequent travelers.

4. check the arrival time 도착시간을 확인하다

  • Can you check the arrival time of the next bus? I want to time my departure.
  • Before heading out, I always check the arrival time to avoid unnecessary waiting.

5. wait in line at the bus stop 버스정류장에서 줄 서서 기다리다

  • Let's wait in line at the bus stop; it's more organized, and we won't miss our turn.
  • It's courteous to wait in line at the bus stop, especially during peak hours.

6. check the bus / subway map 노선도를 확인하다

  • Before we start, let's check the subway map to find the best route to our destination.
  • It's handy to check the bus map for alternative routes in case of unexpected delays.

7. miss a bus / a train 버스/열차를 놓치다

  • Oh no, we're late; we might miss the bus if we don't hurry!
  • I set multiple alarms to ensure I don't miss the early train.

  • Coming out through the turnstile is necessary to complete your journey.

15. get out through exit # 번 출구로 나오다

  • To meet our friends, we should get out through exit 3; it's the closest to the meeting point.
  • The signs clearly indicate that we should get out through exit 2 for the shopping center.
