[영어 회화] 카페, 커피 주문 관련 영어표현

 

이제 카페는 남녀노소를 불문하고 한국인에게는 없어서는 안 될 장소가 되었습니다. 길 모퉁이를 돌면 쉽게 크고 작은 카페를 볼 수 있죠. 직장인이라면 아침에 카페인 수혈이 일을 하는데 얼마나 중요한지 다들 공감하실거에요. 점심식사 후 친한 직장동료와 카페에서 소소한 수다를 떠는 것도 회사생활의 한 재미죠. 친구를 만날 때도 식사 후에는 다들 카페에 가서 맛있는 디저트를 먹으며 이야기를 나눕니다. 또 요즘은 카페에서 공부하시는 분들도 많죠. 카페에서 커피를 주문할 때 영어로 어떻게 할지 생각해본 적 있나요? 어려운 내용도 아닌데 생각보다 쉽게 말이 나오지 않더라고요.  그래서 카페에서 음료 주문을 영어로 어떻게 하는지, 카페에서 사용할 수 있는 영어 표현은 어떤 것들이 있는지 정리해보았습니다.

 

카페 관련 영어 표현

1. choose drinks 마실 음료를 고르다

'이번엔 내가 살게'는 영어로 'It's on me this time.'이라고 말합니다.

이 표현을 응용해서 커피는 내가 살게 라고 말하고 싶다면 'Coffees are on me.'라고 말하면 됩니다.

• Let's go to a cafe and get some coffee. Coffees are on me. Choose whatever you'd like to drink.
• I'm always the last one to choose drinks because everything on the menu looks tempting.

2. order drinks 음료를 주문하다

요즘에는 카페마다 키오스크가 있어서 키오스크로 주문해야하는 경우가 많죠. 

키오스크로 음료를 주문하다는 영어로 말하려면 뒤에 from a kiosk를 붙여서 order drinks from a kiosk라고 하면 됩니다.

• Let's find a cozy spot, and then we can order drinks from the menu.
• You can use the app to save time; simply order drinks and pick them up at the counter.

3. order on a drive-through 드라이브 스루로 주문하다

• If you're in a hurry, we can order on the drive-through and enjoy our drinks on the way.
• Drive-throughs are convenient; you can order without leaving the comfort of your car.

4. enter in the number for a cash receipt 현금영수증 번호를 입력하다

• Before we forget, enter in the number for a cash receipt; it's needed for reimbursement.
• The cashier will ask if you want to enter in the number for a cash receipt; it's a common practice.

5. enter in a promotion code 할인 코드를 입력하다

• Don't finalize the order without entering in a promotion code; it could save us some money.
• There's a field to enter in a promotion code during checkout; let me find one for us.

6. earn loyalty points 포인트를 적립하다

• Sign up for their loyalty program; you can earn loyalty points and get free drinks.
• I always make sure to use my loyalty card; it's great to earn loyalty points for every purchase.

7. get one's loyalty card stamped 적립카드에 스탬프를 찍다

• After five purchases, you get your loyalty card stamped, and the next drink is on the house.
• It's a good feeling when you get your loyalty card stamped; it's like a little reward.

8. use a mobile coupon / gift card 모바일 쿠폰 / 기프트 카드를 쓰다

• I found a great deal online; we can use a mobile coupon for a discount.
• Instead of cash, you can use a mobile gift card to pay for your order.

9. get [음료명] to go ~을 테이크아웃 하다

• If we're in a rush, let's get our favorite drinks to go and enjoy them on the way.
• They offer all drinks to go, so we can sip on our coffee while we stroll around.

10. put a cup holder(sleeve) on 컵홀더를 끼우다

• Before you take the hot coffee, don't forget to put a cup holder on; the cups can be really hot.
• The barista handed me my latte with a sleeve on the cup holder to prevent burns.

11. add syrup to 시럽을 추가하다

시럽을 제외하고 싶다면 no sugar를 쓰시면 됩니다. 미국에서는 sugar와 syrup의 큰 차이가 없답니다.

• I like to add vanilla syrup to my iced coffee; it gives it a nice flavor.
• Remember to ask if you can add syrup to your drink if you want to sweeten it.

12. get a table / seats 자리를 잡다

• It's crowded; let's try to get a table near the window for a nice view.

15. pick up the drinks 주문한 음료를 받다

• When the bell vibrates, it's time to pick up the drinks from the counter.
• Let's wait here until they call our number to pick up the drinks.

안녕하세요, 주문할게요

* Can I 동사 ~? 는 굉장히 활용도가 높은 표현이니 꼭 기억해두세요!

 

B(staff) : Welcome. For here, or to go?

어서오세요. 드시고 가세요 아님 가지고 가세요?

* 간단하게 for here, to go로 말합니다. 모른다면 당황할 수 있는 표현이에요.

 

A : For here. Can I have an iced americano and a hot latte?

먹고 갈게요. 아이스 아메리카도 한 잔, 따뜻한 라떼 한 잔이요.

* can I have 대신 I'll have [음료명] 또는 I'll go with [음료명]으로도 말할 수 있어요.

* 차가운 음료를 말할 땐 ice가 아닌 iced인 점 주의하세요!

 

B : Okay. what size would you like for drinks?

네, 사이즈는 어떻게 해드릴까요?

 

A : Tall size for the americano and a grande for the latte, please.

아메리카노는 톨사이즈, 라테는 그란데요.

* 음료 주문 시 사이즈를 같이 말하고 싶다면 a grade latte라고 말하면 됩니다.

 

A : Do you need anything else?

더 필요한 건 없으신가요?

 

B : Yes. that's it.

네.

 

B : Do you have a membership card with us?

멤버십 카드 가지고 계시나요?

 

A : Yes. I'll get my card stamped. I'll use my phone number.
